Review Paper on Optimal Design Considering Soil Structure Interaction using Staad Pro

Abstract
The interaction of a civil engineering structure and the soil below it, is known as Soil–Structure Interaction (SSI). It majorly affects the structure behavior during analysis and design. In the general practice of design methods, we often assume that the foundation is rigid or fixed, which makes the analysis simplified by ignoring the variability of different soil conditions. This can lead to inaccurate analysis of structural performance. So, as per the study, considering SSI in structural analysis is necessary for making a safer, more accurate, and costeffective structural design. This project provides a comparison of design of structures that account for SSI for different soil types using STAAD.Pro as the main platform for analysis and design tools. As the previous studies are majorly based on complex mathematical models or advanced simulation tools such as Abaqus, which are not used in the regular work, this work focuses on making SSI modeling accessible to practicing engineers through STAAD.Pro. The study shows the necessity of integrating SSI into routine design workflows and encourages its broader adoption in commonly used software, promoting a more sustainable and resilient approach to structural engineering.
