Virtual Machine Migration Techniques in a Cloud Computing Environment: A Survey

The study of different kinds of computing has been fascinating with the addition of another computing model called cloud computing. The unique features of cloud computing makes it very different from the other computing models. The datacenters in cloud use virtualization for efficient resource utilization and management to reduce infrastructural and operational costs. Virtualization empowered by virtual machine migration meets the increasing demands of dynamic workload by relocating virtual machines on different physical machines. The paper presents different virtual machine migration techniques in cloud datacenter along with some observations and challenges.
