Abstract

The study investigates the enhancement of solar energy utilization through the application of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques combined with industry frameworks. Solar energy, a renewable resource, is captured using photovoltaic (PV) cells and is considered an inexhaustible energy source, with global estimates ranging from 3,000 to 50,000 exajoules—far exceeding the current global energy consumption of about 600 exajoules. MPPT is essential for optimizing the output from PV systems by adjusting operational parameters based on environmental factors like sunlight intensity and temperature. This research presents a microcontroller-based circuit for a DC-DC buck converter that implements MPPT algorithms to maximize energy extraction from solar panels. By incorporating sensors aligned with Industry 4.0 technologies, the system effectively addresses measurement uncertainties, leading to more precise solar energy estimations. This approach not only makes the system more efficient but also promotes sustainable energy use. With proper implementation, solar energy has the potential to significantly meet global energy needs while fostering environmental sustainability and reducing dependency on fossil fuels. The findings suggest pathways for future advancements in solar technology, aiming to enhance accessibility and efficiency in renewable energy generation.
