Abstract
On account of depleting fossil fuels and certain environmental constraints, use of renewable energy is rapidly increasing in all areas. However implementing such system for extracting this free power is a complex task as well as highly expensive in comparison to the load. This paper proposed a comparative case study of a stand-alone and grid connected hybrid energy system for a remote community in India. Wind generation system and Solar Photovoltaic generator have been are considered as the feasible renewable energy resources for this location. Sizing and cost analysis have been performed for both grid connected as well as stand-alone system using HOMER software. At last a comparative cost effective analysis has been carried out considering the results of both the scenarios.
