Abstract
Recognition of handwritten characters has been undergoing a lot of research and development nowadays, since it could potentially transform various field by allowing industries and fields to undergo complete digitization among other things. But recognizing handwritten characters has been observed to be quite difficult due to fact that writing styles differ from person to person, leading to different ‘fonts’ for different persons. This problem exists in every language. Recently there have been research advances mainly in machine learning and deep learning which show great promise for the future of this field. In this paper, various approaches towards implementing character recognition have been explored.
