Abstract

Lung cancer is still considered as greatest from cancer, being early diagnosed vital to increase survival. automatic framework with chest CT images. To increase the visibility of the scans, we propose initially to isolate the lung area and later to increase or decrease the intensity of the image. An enhanced 3D CNN is then used to detect the presence of nodules in the lung and their possible malignancy. We use transfer learning, or the ability to reuse the weights of a pre-trained deep-learning model and use the knowledge that this model has acquired to optimise the last Fully Connected (FC) layer to perform our targeted task, thus making the model smarter and more efficient. This integration of methods enhances precision of the system besides shortening the training period, which makes it a useful and accurate tool in the initial diagnosis of lung cancer in practical clinical practice.
