Edible mushroom production is highly regarded for its nutrition and environmental fitness however; the conventional culture has been facing challenges in quality and yield. Precision agriculture provides approaches to refine growth conditioning by the aid of sensors, Internet of Things (IoT), and data analytics. This research explores practical monitoring, modelling and control approaches in substrate preparation, mycelia growth and fruiting stages. Considering the enhanced uniformity, yield and resource use-efficiency, smart substrates as well as the integrated sensor-AI systems could be regarded as key to enable sustainable commercial mushroom cultivation [2].
