Abstract
The digitization of the healthcare sector has led to the widespread use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), which have the potential to transform patient care and advance medicine. However, traditional centralized EHRs face challenges such as data security, confidentiality, patient empowerment, and interoperability. This literature review explores the use of blockchain technology as a decentralized approach to address these issues. Key characteristics of blockchain include immutability, transparency, and cryptographic security. The review also explores patient-centric models, data integrity preservation strategies, and interoperability improvements.
