Abstract

In the contemporary market, counterfeit products undermine consumer trust, compromise brand integrity, and pose substantial risks to public safety. This work addresses this pervasive issue by presenting an innovative Fake Product Identification System that leverages the immutability and transparency of blockchain technology. The core functionality involves the creation and utilization of smart contracts, which securely store crucial product identification details. The system’s implementation utilizes key technologies, including Truffle for smart contract development, Ganache for local blockchain setup, and Web3.js for seamless interaction with the blockchain network. To establish a secure and user-friendly environment, the system is designed to work with Chromium-based browsers, with the Metamask extension facilitating secure transactions and interactions with the block-chain. As part of the deployment process, QR codes are generated, providing end users with a fast and easy way of determining the legitimacy of a product. The success of the work is proved through good testing and analysis, which proves its ability to successfully prevent counterfeit attempts and increase the general level of marketability of products. In addition to proposing a workable means to prevent counterfeiting, the proposed system offers the foundation for further developments in counterfeiting prevention. In addition to solving the immediate problems that arise because of counterfeiting, the use of blockchain technology furthers the dialogue concerning safe and open product identification in a range of sectors. This work utilises blockchain technology to create a reliable and safe marketplace for product identification, combating counterfeit goods and ensuring authenticity.
