Abstract

This project describes the making of FRIDAY, an all-in-one desktop assistant having AI powers, using Python to facilitate smooth interaction with the user via voice and text. Incorporating speech recognition and text-to-speech features, along with Google Gemini AI, FRIDAY perceives natural language commands and processes them, thus bridging the gap between human intensions and digital performance. The system offers a wide range of functionalities, including application and folder management, web browsing, real-time searching on Google and YouTube, querying of the current time or date, reminders, and system diagnostics for end users. A modernized GUI with Tkinter aids smooth interaction while others are attached to voice customization, quick actions, and chat history export. When generic commands go unrecognized, Gemini dynamically formulates context-aware replies to carry on the interaction. FRIDAY shows the possibility of having a generative AI to work side-by-side with system-level automation to create a powerful yet easy-to-use virtual assistant for its everyday desktop operation.
