Optimized SDN Resilience: A Novel Flow Aggregation Approach for Ultra-Fast Network Recovery
Authors

Abstract
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) introduces a paradigm where the control and data planes are separated, network intelligence is centralized, and the physical network infrastructure is abstracted from applications. While SDN en- hances network management capabilities in carrier-grade net- works (CGNs), ensuring resiliency remains a challenge, especially in the presence of device and link failures. Network component failures can disrupt traffic forwarding, leading to packet loss, service unavailability, and degraded Quality of Service (QoS). Therefore, efficient failure detection and recovery mechanisms are critical for maintaining seamless service.
