Abstract

Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) are extensively used in space and military applications. A single low weight converter board can accommodate multiple outputs and topologies. The project is focused on the design and development of a high efficiency 8-stage synchronous buck converter with continuous, regulated output range using voltage mode control. The Pulse Width Modulated signals are generated using LT3845 controller IC to drive MOSFETS. The proposed converter operates at 100kHz switching frequency. By varying input command circuit reference voltage linearly from 1.5-5V; output voltage of 15-20V can be delivered from each converter. Efficiency of the proposed system can reach up to 94% and each converter has its own protection circuits. The hardware prototype model functionality and results obtained match the designed specifications.
