A Blockchain-based Framework for Transparent and Secure E-Waste Lifecycle Management

Abstract
The management of electronic waste (e-waste) poses significant environmental and regulatory challenges due to the complexity and opacity of current disposal and recycling processes. This paper proposes a decentralized, blockchain-based framework for tracking ewaste from its generation to its final disposal. By leveraging blockchain’s core features— immutability, transparency, and decentralized consensus—the system ensures real-time tracking and accountability across all stakeholders, including producers, logistics providers, recyclers, and regulators. The architecture includes a user-friendly interface for web, secure off-chain storage for auxiliary data, and smart contract-based validation to maintain regulatory adherence. Designed for interoperability and scalability, the system promotes sustainable ewaste management and offers a reliable audit trail to support regulatory oversight and environmental protection efforts.
