Abstract
In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the growing need for scalable and efficient digital solutions has propelled the development of innovative tools for modern web application design. Among these, React—an open-source JavaScript library—has gained prominence for its effectiveness in building responsive and dynamic user interfaces (UIs) for both websites and web-based platforms. Its widespread adoption is demonstrated by its integration into over 11 million digital platforms worldwide. This research aims to examine the fundamental features and advantages of React, particularly through a comparative analysis with Angular, another leading web framework. In addition, it presents a case study of a movie catalog web application built using JavaScript and React. The primary focus of this study is the design and implementation of a Movie Recommendation Engine developed using contemporary web technologies. The frontend is built using React.js in combination with Material-UI (MUI), while the backend utilizes The Movie Database (TMDB) API for real-time data acquisition and user authentication. The system is engineered to enhance user experience by offering personalized movie recommendations based on popularity trends and individual user preferences. This paper further elaborates on the architectural design, technological stack, third-party API integration, and the overall performance assessment of the developed system.
