Abstract

This is an advanced electric vehicle route planning and optimization system that addresses specific challenges which electric vehicle users face in the planning of their trip. It uses a dual mode routing interface: conventional navigation and specialized EV routing with integration of intelligent charging stops. Leveraging the latest, multi-service mapping, like Mapbox, OpenStreetMap, and OpenChargeMap APIs, the system lifts the optimization of routes across the platform, coupled with actual time data on charging stations. The center of the platform is routed calculation that moves dynamically based on the availability of charging stations and consumption patterns. Routes can also be personalized by users having up to five waypoints, and the system intelligently suggests optimal charging stops based on the real time station status and vehicle parameters. Advanced algorithms in the app calculate the energy-efficiency routes available given elevation, weather conditions, and traffic pattern considerations. Information regarding the availability status, charging speeds, and amenities at the charging stations is very much a part of these routes. It also creates comprehensive journey metrics, including estimated times of charging, predicting energy consumption, and alternative routing recommendations. Combining sophisticated route optimization with comprehensive charging infrastructure data, it finally addresses that critical issue of range anxiety while making the driving experience of EVs more comprehensive overall.
