Synthesis of Dysprosium Molybdate as an Electrocatalyst for the Detection of Chloramphenicol

Abstract
In this work, Dysprosium Molybdate (DyM) nanoparticles were synthesised using a simple co-precipitation method and evaluated for their potential as an electrochemical sensor for the detection of Chloramphenicol (CAP), a widely used but highly toxic antibiotic. The synthesised DyM was characterised by XRD and HRTEM, confirming its crystalline monoclinic phase and nanoscale morphology. The DyM was fabricated onto a pencil graphite electrode (PGE) and tested using electrochemical techniques including Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The modified PGE/DyM electrode exhibited remarkable electrocatalytic activity towards CAP, achieving a low limit of detection (0.7488 μM), high sensitivity (18.87 μA mM-1 cm-2), and a linear response range of 100-1000 μM. the sensor also demonstrated good stability, repeatability, and reproducibility, highlighting its suitability for practical CAP monitoring in environmental and pharmaceutical samples.
