Conceptual Development of MedDrip Auto

Abstract
Intravenous (IV) therapy is a crucial medical procedure used for fluid and medication administration in hospitals and healthcare facilities. However, manual monitoring of IV drips can be inefficient and prone to human error, leading to complications such as air blockages, incorrect flow rates, or empty IV bags. To address these challenges, we propose MedDrip Auto, a smart IV drip monitoring system designed to automate and enhance IV fluid management. The system integrates an Infrared (IR) sensor for air bubble detection and a microcontroller-based alert mechanism using LEDs and buzzers to notify healthcare personnel of critical conditions. The collected data is displayed on an LCD screen and can be further integrated with IoT for remote monitoring. The system aims to improve patient safety by reducing manual intervention, ensuring continuous IV flow regulation, and providing real-time alerts for timely action. Through hardware implementation and experimental validation, MedDrip Auto demonstrates its potential to enhance hospital efficiency and minimize risks associated with IV therapy.
