Various Wireless Power Transfer Systems used to Charge Electric Vehicles: A Review

Abstract
Electric vehicles (EVs) require fast, cost-effective, and reliable charging systems to ensure optimal performance. Wireless charging systems address the inconvenience of plugging in devices by eliminating the need for physical connections. While traditional EVs rely on plugin charging, modern EVs are increasingly adopting wireless or hybrid charging systems, which combine wired and wireless methods. The absence of wires and mechanical connectors in wireless charging systems makes them both environmentally friendly and user-friendly. This study explores essential techniques for wireless power transfer, focusing on three primary methods: capacitive power transfer method, inductive power transfer method, and magnetic wireless power transfer method. These approaches are analyzed and compared to highlight their respective advantages and applications. Additionally, the review delves into various wireless charging techniques, including systems based on vehicle positioning, and examines the components required for wireless power transfer across different topologies (SS, SP, PP, PS). By providing a detailed overview of these methods, the paper offers valuable insights into the advancements in EV charging technology.
