A Comprehensive Study of Understanding the Dynamics of Cyber Grooming through Behavioral Analysis

This study discusses online grooming, a process that enables child abuse and is a global threat to youth. The study uses definitions, occurrences, and attributes of online grooming to dive deeply into how predators engage with young people on the internet. The review connects theories of child sexual abuse and internet behaviors that are relevant in this context. The article discusses the protests of youngsters on the internet (such as sending Snapchats to strangers and sharing personal information), along with the different manipulation techniques used by online groomers, including flattery, bribery, and threats. Although the models and typologies can help professionals understand this crime, it is essential to acknowledge the unique and heterogeneous character of internet offenders, victims, and their relationships. Grasping the characteristics of online groomers is fundamental to devising interventions to reduce this predatory behavior. Specifically, the review notes that there has been only limited research into online grooming of young people. It emphasizes the need for more research to build on existing work in this area.
