Abstract

The rapid adoption of virtual reality (VR) in healthcare, education, and daily life. This systematic review is based on findings from 127 peer-reviewed studies that evaluate the potential therapeutic effects and possible negative effects of extended exposure to VR. Our analysis showed positive applications in pain management, physical rehabilitation, and treatment of mental health using VR-based interventions that achieved an improvement of 45% for patient engagement over regular treatments. However, consistent complaints on cybersickness, visual strain, and possibly the psychological effects due to excessive immersion were noted. Notable findings reveal a correlation between the duration of VR sessions and selfreported discomfort, with sessions exceeding 45 minutes correlated with increased symptom severity. In conclusion, we can assert that although there is transformational opportunity for healthcare related to VR, such implementation must take very seriously exposure limits and specific factors about users. They presented evidence-based guidelines on the use of VR in clinical settings and prepared areas for further research work.
