Abstract

Solid-state batteries (SSBs) represent a promising advancement in energy storage technology, replacing conventional liquid or gel electrolytes with solid-state materials. This design offers significant advantages, including enhanced safety due to the elimination of flammable electrolytes, improved energy density, and superior thermal stability. SSBs also reduce the risk of dendrite growth, a major issue in traditional lithium-ion batteries, resulting in longer cycle life and greater reliability. These attributes make solid-state batteries particularly well-suited for high-performance applications such as electric vehicles (EVs), portable electronics, and large-scale energy storage systems. The performance of SSBs is largely dependent on the selection of solid electrolytes, which must exhibit high ionic conductivity, stability, and compatibility with electrode materials. Various solid electrolyte materials, including sulfide-based, oxide-based, and polymer-based options, have been explored. However, challenges remain in terms of scalability, manufacturing processes, and achieving high energy efficiency. Additionally, interfacial resistance and integration of solid electrolytes with electrode materials continue to present barriers to practical implementation. Despite these challenges, ongoing research in materials science and engineering is steadily addressing these issues, bringing SSBs closer to practical deployment. With continued innovation, solid-state batteries are poised to play a transformative role in the future of energy storage, particularly in clean energy, transportation, and portable electronic devices. Introduction - The rapid growth of electric vehicles (EVs) has increased the demand for highperformance electric vehicles that can meet the requirements of increased power, increased safety, and longer life. Solid-state batteries (SSBs) have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional lithium-ion batteries because they use electrolytes that eliminate the flammability and leakage associated with liquid electrolytes. The potential SSB technology is transforming energy storage for electric vehicles by focusing on its innovative features, performance characteristics, and major business challenges. Through the use of electrical and electronic components, SSBs provide significant advantages no such as higher power consumption, faster charging capabilities, and improved thermal stability, making them a key component of electric vehicles. Despite these advantages, SSBs face major challenges such as increased capacity, cost, and improved manufacturing technology. The purpose of this report is to provide an in-depth analysis of SSB developments, address these issues, and assess their impact on future electric vehicle applications.
