Abstract

The advent of blockchain technology has paved the way for innovative solutions across various domains, and one such area that stands to benefit significantly is electronic voting (e-voting). Traditional e-voting systems often grapple with issues related to security, transparency, and integrity, which can undermine the credibility of election outcomes. In response to these challenges, this research proposes a novel e-voting system based on blockchain technology, aimed at addressing these shortcomings and ensuring a secure and transparent voting process. At the heart of the proposed system lies the blockchain, a decentralized and immutable ledger that records transactions in a transparent and tamper-resistant manner. Each vote cast by a voter is treated as a transaction and recorded as a block on the blockchain, ensuring that it cannot be altered or tampered with once recorded. The use of cryptographic hashing and distributed consensus mechanisms further enhances the security of the system, making it virtually impervious to manipulation or fraud. Anonymity and verifiability are paramount in any voting system, and the proposed e-voting system upholds these principles by ensuring that voters' identities remain confidential while allowing for transparent verification of the voting results. By leveraging the transparency and auditability inherent in blockchain technology, stakeholders can verify the integrity of the election process and trust the accuracy of the results. Furthermore, the proposed system offers mobility, flexibility, and efficiency, allowing voters to cast their votes remotely and securely from any location with internet access. This not only enhances accessibility for voters but also streamlines the voting process, reducing administrative overhead and ensuring timely and accurate election outcomes. In conclusion, the proposed blockchain-based e-voting system represents a significant advancement in electoral technology, offering a secure, transparent, and efficient solution for conducting elections in the digital age. Its adoption has the potential to strengthen democratic processes, enhance voter trust, and pave the way for more inclusive and participatory elections.
