Real-Time Field Data Monitoring for Irrigation Scheduling

Abstract
This research paper emphases on the need for effective water management in agriculture due to the increasing global population and limited water resources. It proposes an intelligent IoT-based agricultural system that uses advanced technologies, data analytics, and automation to optimize irrigation processes, leading to better water management, heightened crop yields, and better sustainability in agriculture. The system uses sensors to monitor temperature, soil moisture, and humidity and automates irrigation scheduling based on the threshold value determined using the Management Allowable Depletion (MAD) value of the crop and Total Water Available (TAW) of the soil. The system also employs the Thingspeak cloud for live data streaming and the ‘IF This Then That (IFTTT)’ platform for sending voice call notifications in case of any irregular parameter readings.
