A Comparative Study of Distributed Clustering Algorithms in IoT Based WSN

Abstract

Wireless sensors are regarded as critical components in allowing effective IoT networking that has spread into a variety of real-time applications. One of the primary goals in constructing a wireless sensor network (WSN) is to increase network lifespan by minimizing total network energy usage. For accomplishing this, numerous strategies like clustering have been proposed to lengthen network lifespan. Distributed clustering is a significant strategy for reducing energy usage in a WSN as it enhances Packet Delivery Ratio and aids scalability. Each sensor node functions in a cluster alter to reduce energy usage, hence extending lifetime of network. Yet, despite the growing adoption of wireless sensor network-based applications, they are still struggling from restrictions such as memory and processing. This research does a literature evaluation with a focus on features of wireless networking for energy conservation and network lifetime enhancement, current cluster-based distributed routing algorithms, their characteristics and future works
