Abstract

Myoelectric prosthetic arm design which can be 3D printed is presented. The limb’s motion will be actuated and controlled by using muscle contraction of an individual. A fully functioning prosthetic arm will have the ability to grip, grasp, perform precise movements with limited time lag, so as to provide a sense of normal hand. The bionic arm is invented in light of “A working arm for those who lose their arm by amputation”. These modes of innovations do not exist although it is not affordable for ordinary individuals and almost not available to people in developing nations.. Rapid growth and advancement of the 3D printing industry made it much more accessible due to the availability of low cost 3D printers such as XYZprinting da Vinci Mini, lulzBot Mini, RepRap and Fab@Home. The arm is 3D printed, electrically actuated and responds to EMG signals. This study covers a vast range of engineering disciplines. The root cause was identified and implemented a system, an alternative design for a 3D printed artificial arm. Current day circuitry and electronic actuators imitate the device and allow for difficult controls and movements.
