Abstract
The design and analysis of modified edge tapered microstrip patch antenna with defected ground plane for multiband application is presented in this paper. The FR4 epoxy material has been used to design the presented antenna with dielectric constant 4.4 and height of 1.6mm. The edge tapered antenna exhibits required parameters that depends on the coaxial feed position and size of the rectangular patch. The rectangular patch antenna consists of inverted U slots at the center of the patch and four slits of 0.6 mm width and 5 mm length at four edges of the patch. The antenna parameters such as return loss, VSWR, gain, bandwidth and radiation pattern has been optimized.
