Abstract

The present work involves the synthesis, characterization and photoluminescence (PL) studies of Nd3+ (1-11 mol %) doped Bi2O3 nanophosphors (NPs) by low solution combustion method. The average particle size was found to be in the range of 18 to 28 nm using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD. The energy gap (Eg) was found to be between 2.607 to 3.09 eV using Kubelka- Munk (K-M) function. The PL emission spectrum of the synthesised NPs shows intense peaks between 450 and 600 nm which was attributed to 2G9 per 2 → 4I9 per 2 and 4G5 per 2 + 2G7 per 2 → 4I9 per 2 transitions. Hence the prepared phosphors can be utilized for solid state display applications.
