Abstract
Internet of Things- IoT, has completely changed how we communicate with the
environment. One of the most promising applications of IoT is in the automotive industry, with
the development of IoT based vehicle health monitoring systems. Regular check-ups and
servicing were necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of a vehicle, and even then, unexpected
breakdowns and malfunctions were inevitable. This not only caused inconvenience to the vehicle
owners but also resulted in additional expenses. However, with the use of IoT, vehicle health
monitoring has become more efficient, proactive, and cost-effective. It is a network of sensors,
devices, and software that collect and analyze real-time data from a vehicle. This data is then
used to monitor the health and performance of various components of the vehicle, such as the
engine, transmission, and tires. The system also provides alerts and notifications in case of any
potential issues or abnormalities, allowing for timely maintenance and repairs. The sensors are
embedded in different parts of the vehicle and collect data such as temperature, pressure, etc.
This data is then transmitted to a central server via a wireless network, which can be accessed by
vehicle owners and mechanics. It enables real-time monitoring of a vehicle's health, allowing for
timely maintenance and repairs.
