Abstract

The emergence of interconnected devices, known as the Internet of Things (IoT), presents significant potential for the healthcare sector. This technology promises to transform healthcare delivery by facilitating proactive health management, precise diagnosis and treatment, and continuous monitoring within and outside medical facilities. Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, governments worldwide are actively exploring tech-driven solutions to bolster healthcare systems. Understanding current and emerging IoT trends is vital for leveraging their capabilities to effectively support healthcare delivery. This paper aims to offer a concise overview of IoT’s transformative role in healthcare, highlighting its advantages such as enhanced access to preventive care and a shift towards proactive healthcare models. Obstacles like adoption barriers, data privacy concerns, and device compatibility is also addressed in the paper. Implementing IoT in healthcare requires robust policy measures, cybersecurity protocols, strategic planning, and transparent practices within healthcare institutions. Ultimately, embracing IoT-based solutions holds great promise for enhancing healthcare system efficiency and advancing overall population health.
