Abstract

With the advances in wireless technologies and the explosive growth of the Internet, wireless networks, especially Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs), are emerging towards a significant evolution. Wireless mesh networks have emerged as a key technology for next-generation wireless networking. Because of their advantages over other wireless networks, WMNs are undergoing rapid progress and inspiring numerous applications. Over the last few years, a plethora of studies has been carried out to improve the efficiency of wireless networks. In this paper, a survey of different aspects regarding WMNs design, current state-of-the-art protocols and algorithms for WMNs that have been proposed to improve their performance.
