Abstract

The hot water is very much required in our daily life. In cities, nearly\n20-30% of electricity is used to heat the water every day. The alternative source\nis solar energy to heat water. But this can’t be used by many people because the\ninitial cost of these products (solar water heater) are very high. In this paper a\nmodel is described that uses the same methodology and principle of solar water\nheaters, but reduces initial cost and more efficient. The solar water heater can be\ndeveloped in two phases. In phase -1, a copper tube is kept inside the glass bottle\nwhere the bottom half of glass bottle is vertically filled with charcoal powder or\nsand. The addition of these particles will add to the improvement of heating\neffect. Phase 2 deals with the addition of storage tank to store hot water. This type of model is not only useful for homes, but also for the commercial buildings,\nhostels, small scale industries, pre-heaters in generation unit etc.
