Abstract

A platform ticket is required by any individual who wishes to access\nrailway platform to attend his relative(s) either to receive or to see them off. A\nplatform ticket is obtained either online using mobile application requiring an\nindividual to go online for booking each ticket or from the railway platform ticket\ncounter which is sometimes time consuming due to long queue of visitors\nwishing to obtain the same, as well as a lot of paper is used for issuing these\ntickets. In this paper, an attempt has been made to explain an offline e-platform\nticket booking system using a mobile application. An individual using the mobile\napplication can go online anytime once and add any amount to the wallet using\nbank cards (i.e debit cards, credit card and PayTM etc.) and after which he can\nuse that currency later to book multiple e-platform tickets all in offline mode.\nSince the e-ticket is booked offline, thus to provide railways a copy of the ticket,\nthe user is required to send the e-ticket over BLE to the low-power embedded\ndevice installed at the platform gate and hence the gate opens for his entry. Thus,\nthe system proposed here is data and energy efficient, paperless and easy to use.\nThis system helps an individual to book platform ticket without requiring him to\nstand in any queue or by going online every time for every ticket.
